Serena Williams was recently included in a 30-minute video created by Vogue as a homage to Abloh that highlighted some of his best works alongside some of his biggest collaborators. Williams discussed Abloh's trendy attire as well as his experimentation with bold and inspiring ideas in the video clip. Serena then admitted that she regretted Virgil's clothing choice for the 2019 French Open.

"I still kind of regret not doing what Virgil advised me to
do," she stated in her statement. Serena went on to say, "He wanted
me to walk out on the court wearing this long skirt with the insane train, then
a cape with a train. And I'm thinking to myself, 'Virgil, I enjoy fashion and I
like pushing the edge, but I simply don't believe I can do this.'"
Serena also admitted that she didn't feel confident or 'brave' enough to
wear the attire. "I just wasn't bold enough to go out there on all the red
clay and just stroll out in this train, like, a Met Gala at the French
Open," she explained.

Williams and Abloh first cooperated for the uninitiated in 2018, when the latter developed a collection to honour William's history and work. Serena also paid respect to Abloh on her Instagram account following his death. I wish I could have worn the gorgeous skirt he designed for me in 2018. You saw it before me, Virgil, and we will carry on your legacy."
